Nature’s Path Cereal Review and Accomplishments

Happy Friday!

Are you happy or what that the weekend is here and you can relax and play?  I know I am super excited!

We have a dinner tomorrow night for my uncles birthday which is always fun and full of wine ;)

I will be preparing a summer green salad to bring with me for the dinner and possibly another dish for us to eat, just in case.

WOW!  I have been getting some great feed back on the social media outlets for the FREE GI JANE Bootcamp Giveaway!   You still have some time to enter, if you haven’t yet!

I want to take you quickly back to yesterday……..sigh……yesterday was a GREAT DAY.

I was in my PJ’s when the courier dude rang the buzzer.  To be honest I wasn’t really sure what was coming in the mail for me, but when I ran downstairs I had died and gone to cereal heaven!

My wonderful friends at Nature’s Path knew I wrote a post declaring my love for my Millet Flakes and sent me over 3 boxes of cereal to try!!  SWOON or what?!

DSC05846

Hmmmm which one did I break into first?  If you know me well, you would know that I have a weak spot for Maple (hey, I am a Canadian Gal after all) so I ripped right into the Crunchy Maple Sunrise.  PURE BLISS.

DSC05847

DSC05848

Ryan and I crunched, and crunched saying “Mmmmmm, frig this is good…mmmm” between eat spoonful.

I ate it in the morning as soon as it was delivered.  I ate in the evening after my dinner (wtf?).  It is THAT good :)

For all of you cereal lovers out there, have you tried Nature’s Path brand?

The reasons I love this brand is that they bring the Cool Factor to eating Gluten Free.  The boxes are cool, colourful and appealing which makes it even harder for me to resist them sitting in my cupboard.

There was a time that gluten-free cereal only came in a small section of the store and they were packaged like some foreign drug, you know?  Not appealing and honestly the cereal itself tastes like the box it came in.

Nature’s Path has a large variety of GOOD tasting, healthy cereal.  Moms out there, I think you should be stocking up on this instead of the sugary sweet lucky charms.  You get more nutrients, less sugar, and a happy kid ;)

**Side note, but related in someway – Did you know that 5% of school-grade children are affected with ADD or ADHD?  They are saying that most kids don’t even suffer from this disease, it is actually caused by the children eating sugary breakfasts, getting hyper, half way through school loosing their focus due to the sugar crash and BOOM teachers complain, doctors prescribe meds and the little one believes that they have to struggle with this.

Naturopaths now suggest changing the diet first before resulting in the medications.

I actually find this so interesting and the last time I met with Brendan Brazier, he explained this.

Anyways, back to my glorious review!  For myself, I can’t eat cereal every morning.  Well, yes I could, but I don’t let myself.  I can alternate between that or a Smoothie, or I save the cereal for the weekends ;)  My little treat!

Before I forget I wanted to share with you a simple exercise with you that will bring you back to believing in yourself and a reminder of what you HAVE accomplished.  Sometimes we are hard on ourselves and don’t actually let ourselves see how far we have come and what we have done.

Yesterday I saw my Life Coach and she told me that I am too hard on myself and need to be happy with my progress and my accomplishments to date.  I wrote out this morning, before doing anything else what My Accomplishments were.

I listed out where I feel I am with myself inside, outside, how I now have my own voice, listen to MY needs, love myself, blogging, figured out my passions, I  listed it ALL!

DSC05849

It felt amazing to actually see how far you have come.  I invite you to try this tomorrow morning when you wake!

Gym time!  I am off to the gym this morning as I have been pretty weak in that area for the last week or so…..today will be interesting ;)

Do you eat cereal for breakfast?  What is your take on the sugary cereals?  Fave cereal right now?  Do you show yourself love for you accomplishments?

If you liked this post, you will love me on social media ;)  Find me on Facebook!  Follow me on Twitter!

Be Inline and Tuned In

Heyyyy!

Happy Mid-Week Day!  How is your morning going?  Mine is going super well.  I am well rested, full of fruit and sipping on my warm bevy ;)

These last few days have been WOW for me!  I don’t know about you, but I am feeling some major shifts around me and can see my missing pieces fall right into place.  I heard a few weeks back that the world is going through this shift right now preparing for the “2012 shift” and things are movin’ in a positive way around all of us.  Do you feel it as well?

I feel so inline and tuned into my inner glamista and it is glorious!

The most amazing thing happened the other day…..well, lets back up a tad.  Since we moved to this condo we have been taking Hudson for walks twice a day to this park a few blocks away.  Each sunny day (or a day the grass is dry) I sit on the grass in a big patch of clovers and search for nothing other than my 4 leaf-er, baby!

I always graze the patch thinking about my clover too hard and not letting me just go with the flow of my search…..

I decided last week that I was going to set the question to the higher power up there, that if I find my 4 leaf-er something is showing me that the decisions I am making right now and my choices are going to get me far.  LOL, I always seem to have to ask someone for signs.  I know that I will always get the answer and it makes me feel all giddy when I do.

Anywho….after I stated this to universe, I thought HOW COOL would it be if I found a 5 LEAF-ER! Is there such a thing?!

Yesterday when walking around the park over to the garbage can so Ryan could throw his banana peel away I stood…..STOOD in a patch of clovers not even thinking where I was.  I glanced down to notice that 1 clover was resting on my Nike Kicks.  I bent down and picked my LUCKY CHARM.  My sign that I am on my path and my path is right for me was touching me – ALL 5 LEAVES and all!!

DSC05800

My 5 Leafer was shining at me like my very own little leprechaun!  I screeched and showed Ryan (who had known about my deal with the clovers from the week before) He laughed and said “Told ya.  All you need to do is ASK”

I ran home with my clover gently resting in my hands so it wouldn’t blow away and I wouldn’t crush it with my mighty overly excited strength.

I framed this bad boy and it sits right next to my computer reminding me I have a purpose for everyday ;)

DSC05810

To continue on my “Inline and Tuned in streak” I was invited to my very first Diva Date Night that is put on by my lovely friend Kate and her partner Julia from ConsciousDivas.com.  This date night is for women who are open to self growth and to positive changes in their lives. They get together once a month to discuss a certain topic (last night was being “Present” or allowing yourself to be in the present moment) and feed off each other with ideas, tools, and empowering conversation.

How frickin’ cool is this idea!

It was a pleasure to be a part of this evening and I walked away with many shinny new gems for my inner tool box! Being an empowered woman ROCKS and I encourage every girl to seek a connection with their inner self and beauty!

Being in the Present Moment is something that we all agreed was pretty tough.  I think it is something that I really need to practice as running businesses, my daily life, eating healthy, working out, ME time and time for Breaking Dawn/ RPattz, can get way overwhelming and I stress myself out, miss out on all the small things and will kick myself when summer is over and I didn’t stop to smell the stinking roses.

Who else feels this way? Common….you can put  your hand up.  I am!  Both my hands are in the air!

So some tips from last night that really stuck with me for a quick way to get yourself back into the present moment:

-Imagine your feet are rooting into the ground and really feel the connection between you and the earth.

-Say “I Love You” when lots of thoughts are rolling around.

-Deep breathing!

-Realize in a time of overwhelm, upset, or confrontation if you are speaking or coming from a place of Love or Fear.

So my question for you today is:

How do you bring yourself back to being present?  Do you live in the Now?  Is this something that is important to you?  Do you believe in 4 leaf clover luck?  Do you ask for signs from the universe?

Lets Chat Breaking Dawn, Shall We?

Happy Friday!!!

How are you doing on this day before the weekend?

I appreciate all of your comments on my Ghetto Greens post yesterday!  I love hearing all your blender stories.  Too funny!

I am on a mission for a Vita and the beautiful Jessica from DairyFreeBetty.com recommended me to a good site that seems to have a good price for this Bentley of a Blender.  Thank you Jess!  If you are interested in the site she forwarded to me, just let me know.

Has anyone ever heard of The HealthMaster blender?  My nana watches The Shopping Channel and told me all about it.  I googled it and it seems very similar to the Vita, but a bit less speed.  It is however, less than half the price of the Bentley Blender (Vita).  Thoughts??

Moving along…

DSC05740

Ya, I am going to get all Twilight on you here for a second or two.

Who has read Breaking Dawn?  I feel I will need you to call me later and hold me.

I need to hear other people’s opinion on this book!  I am about half way into it and I am feeling my love for the whole Eddie and Bells relationship to  be LEAVING me!  I thought this day would never come.

Now that they are hitched and with a steel bun in the oven the mystery and the suspense on if he is going to kiss the girl is gone.  Sigh…..that is what I think I loved so much.

Did anyone else feel this way while reading Breaking Dawn?

I am no where near finished yet, so it could get better and get my love tank full again, right?  Please tell me “Yes”.

innerglam

A quick update on my medi sesh’s.  They are going as smooth as smooth can me.  I do get a little freaked out when I can feel someone staring at me and I open my eyes to a long brown dog :|  He just stares!

DSC05695

I am able to get my thoughts to stop from swirling around, but this isn’t for long.  They will start popping back in again and this will probably happen for another week or so.

The key is to really focus on the in and out of your breath.  This will bring you into that calmness and let your mind relax.  Ahhhh so nice…..

Yesterday was an amazing appointment with the Life Coach and I left there feeling like a million smackers!  I have made huge leaps when it has come to my voice and knowing what I really want.  I have this beautiful new acceptance for myself and I love watching it grow.

Learning to step back and observe yourself if a strange, but super interesting thing!

glamfood

Ok, so I think I made a new fave dressing!

I wasn’t really feeling the apple cider vinegar yesterday, so I decided to use fresh lemon juice instead for my salad dressing.

Yes, if you follow me on Twitter this is the salad dressing that Hudson seemed to love so much :|

DSC05710

Full Of Flavour Dressing:

1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp cumin powder
sea salt and pepper to taste

Mix it all up in a bowl and drizzle it over your greens!  So simple and so freaking good!

Well it is cookie baking time, and time to get some work done.  I shall also clean…..party on and hopefully enjoy some S’bucks in there somewhere!

Have you ever heard of The HealthMaster blender?  What kind of Blender do you use?  Please tell me how you feel about Breaking Dawn!

Day 2: Meditation Sessions, Cookies and Crush It Review!

Heyyyyy!

Happy mid-week!  I hope your week is going along smoothly??

Mine has been a busy one.

Yesterday Michelle and I had a meeting with the owner of www.grooster.com for some tips and possible future work with her and opendaily.ca

We have been working our little tooskah’s off getting the site perfect for the official launch!  Tis going along smoothly ;)

I also wanted to give my quick review of this audio book I have been listening to:

Crush It: Why Now Is The Time To Cash In On Your Passion

I tend to learn better when books like these are in an audio version.  I usually play them on the mac when I am working so I listen to them over and over again.

This book is awesome if you are looking for a way to follow your passion and make some dolla’s!  The author Gary Vaynerchuk explains how you can make money off of ANY passion of yours online.  ie. fishing and worms :|

Or just think – Perez Hilton.  Loves celeb gossip and has made a killing for himself and has a huge online following.

Anyways….if  you are interested in starting online doing what you love, this book is totally worth the buy!

If you have any questions for me on this topic, just let me know in the “Contact Kris” section!  I love learning and helping with this stuff ;)

Moving along….

This morning I rocked my medi sesh.  Honestly it was pretty good and the monkeys were tame, but I had a lot of anger rolling around in there.  I could really feel it in my chest today and I am not sure why or what it is directed too.

I do know that after breakfast I am going to work on removing this anger through one of the Forgiveness Meditations that the book (Add More ~ing To Your Life) walks you through.  Fingers are crossed that this will work ;)

On a side note, I have been very good with my thoughts lately keeping them right on track with my manifesting!  Hahaha, this sounds so strange….

You have to Eat Glam to Be Glam!

Last night’s dinner was amazing left over Sweet Potato Salad and a mondo Green Salad with cucumbers, carrots, avocado and broccoli!  Loved this meal and what I had to read with it ;)

DSC05749

I also may have had a cookie or two…..

DSC05747

I used a simple chocolate chip recipe following this one, just omitted the cocoa and added in some cinnamon.  I also used all buckwheat flour.

I found the fluffiest buckwheat flour ever if you are looking for some.

You have to use the Anita’s Organic brand!!  This will make your cookies SING!

DSC05750

Have a fab day!  I am off to the beach to walk the dog and pick up some groceries :)  The beach deserves a “:)” and the groceries deserves a “:|”

What is your Favourite brand of flour or grain to bake with?  How often do you bake?  Do you read often?

Day 1: Beginning Of My Meditation and Dealing With Grumps!

Posted on 26. Jul, 2010 by kris.

15

Hey!!!

Happy Monday :)  Hope you in-joyed  your weekend!

Thank you for all the wonderful comments and suggestions on the Flat Tummy Drink!  I am sippin’ some of it now.

This morning I omitted the cucumber just because I didn’t have any left and I think I like it better.

innerglam

Over the weekend I spent a lot of time reflecting on myself, my life, my action, the blog and what level I will take everything to.  This meant I spent a lot of time at the beach (my comfort place) thinking and outlining.

Of course I am happy with most areas of my life, but I believe I have a lot of improving and changing to do.  I am still on my way of me finding that connection that I can feel with myself and others without judging and thinking too hard about it.  I am not even sure if that makes sense or not?  ;)

I decided that starting today I am on a 30 day mindset overhaul! I feel internally that I have some “glaming” up to do and I was so excited to wake up this morning to get it on!  I am totally open with myself on the blog and what I share, you I hope you can help me or learn from my next 30 days!

Meditation was first on my list. It has been a while since I actually had a meditation schedule and really followed it.  I used to meditate before hitting the sack, but felt that I probably was sleeping more than I was actually calming the mind.

For the next 30 days I will be meditating first thing in the a.m. for at least 15 minutes.  This will allow me to get my mind right for the day, clear my clutter, and be close to my inner glam.  WOOT WOOT

I have also been really focused on my feelings these last few days.  Being aware of how your body feels is so important and helpful for all areas of your life.

For me to really feel my inner glam I had to make sure the outer glam was matching as well. I guess from the night before eating foods I wasn’t used too I felt heavy and not as pure.  It was amazing that I was able to feel this and know that I had to increase my water and green foods to bring myself back to a feeling of balance inside.

I was also Tested yesterday and reminded it is also important to be aware of how others make you feel and learn to either let it roll off of you if someone put you in a funky mood or embrace it if they raised you up to super high vibes!

While walking the sea wall yesterday with Ryan and Hudson we had stopped at 3 little boys having a lemonade stand.  I thought how cute of these little entrepreneurs workin it!  I was flipping through my wallet to get some cash for them as this grumpy old dude stopped us and said “Did you read the sign back there?”  ”No sir, we didn’t”

He insisted that he pull us over there to show us that NO DOGS were allowed on this part of the sea wall.  I was fuming inside that A.-He ruined my moment with me feeling good helping these 3 little boys and B. -That he had the nerve to be all up in my biz.  I felt that he could have been nicer about it and that why did it really matter to him anyways?

So I stopped took some deep breaths and realized I can’t change what just happened, he can’t change my mood and decided to forgive him and let it go.

In the Add More ~ing To Your Life book it says to stop and allow yourself to feel for 90 seconds after you are in a situation.

I could really feel my mood change after the elderly man issue and I had to fight to allow myself to not be bothered with it. This will get better over the next 30 days ;)  I am happy about that!

glamfood

It is mucho important to keep yourself eating properly to feel good.  The food you eat is huge for your energy and your overall vibing!

If you are eating whole nutritious foods that are “high vibers” you will get that back as well.

Yesterday’s Get Me Out Of The Dumps Food:

Bowl of Fresh Fruit: 1/2 and apple, 1/2 a grapefruit, and 1 plum

1 large Green Smoothie with Vanilla Chai Vega, 1/2 frozen banana, spinach, chia seeds and hemp milk

2 Vegan Dreamy Decadent Cookies

1 decaf americano (what can I say…it was Sunday ;) )

A LOT of water and 1 litre Lemon Water (For bringing my bod back to alkaline)

Cucumber and Carrot slices

A Whole Food Vibrancy Vega Bar (I was eating anything green!)

DSC05736

A mondo salad with Asian Portobellos, bok choy and fresh peas.

DSC05739

Another cookie……

A plum and another spinach salad

Of course I needed to have a good stress reliever workout in the afternoon as well and rocked out P90X Kenpo along with 15 minutes on the ‘mill while listening to  Dynamite by Taio Cruz :)

Felt like heaven!

I am happy to report today I am back to myself and enjoyed my morning medi and feeling exercise :)

Today’s Agenda:

-Blog for Opendaily.ca and finish up the Official Launch Email

-Gym

-Work Stuff / Social Media

-Wash the Hair

-Read some of BREAKING DAWN!  YESSS I found it!  I was on a major hunt these last few days :)  I feel whole again.

DSC05740

Come’on Give Your Best Stress Buster Tips!  Do you Meditate?  If so, with music or without?  Do you stop and support little kids and their sidewalk stores??  I just love it!

Heyyyyyyy!!!

Happy Thursday!  How is your day going?

I seem to be better now.  Honestly I was having a struggle getting my rear in gear this morning with work and online stuff.  I found myself “keeping busy” in other areas around the house avoiding my office!

So I scrubbed the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed the casa ;)  I am finally now, sitting enjoying a protein salad and getting my blog on!

Protein Salad Giant for Lunch:

DSC05710

Raw Organic Kale (more protein than cooked chicken boobs!), 1 carrot, 1 celery, handful of sprouts, and 1/4 avocado.

Dressing:

1 tbsp evoo
1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp hot dijon mustard

Mix well and drizzle!

This salad is making me feel better as I relax and eat it ;)

Sharing The Love!

As you all know I am a HUGE lover of Gabrielle Bernstein ;)  I have been reading and studying her newest book “Add More ~ing To Your Life love, love, LOVE it!

add more ing to your life

I read a lot of personal development, motivational and self help books and I have really resonated well with this one.

Tuesday was a rough day and there was some tension rolling around in my life.  Wednesday morning when I woke up I got my tea, my book and sat outside on the patio.  The chapter I was starting was on Negative thinking and a bit to do with Forgiveness.  I reread this chapter 3 times soaking in everything it was saying.  I really needed that on the other morning.

One quote that really shot out to me was “Worry is a prayer for chaos.  When your mind is stuck in a pattern of chaos, this is all you’ll experience.”  Do you believe that worrying brings on more negative things in your life?

I always knew if you were thinking dis-empowering thoughts, anger, fears, you would get it all back.  Worry is such a strong emotion that I think we all have.

If we are in a constant state of worry (not eating right, work, finances, relationships) we will just get this recycled back to us.

How do you Stop This Negative Thinking or Worry Thinking?

These negative thoughts and worries are all Ego driven.  Remember that ;)

It is said in the book to wear an elastic band on your wrist.  Be aware on when you have a negative thought, limiting belief, or “worry” and snap the elastic band.  This is not meant as a way to abuse yourself, but it is away for you to stay constantly aware of what you are thinking about.

When you have a negative thought or limiting belief or crazy worry.  Think about it, snap your elastic and be with the feeling for 90 seconds.

Carry a little journal with you wherever you go (I do this all the time!) and write out how your ego is stopping you.  Gabrielle suggests writing out “I block myself when I listen to my ego say ______________”

“I block myself when I listen to my ego say I am not good enough to be a successful blogger

What I will do after I write out my bad ego lingo is I write out an affirming sentence right next to it.  ”I provide amazing value to my readers and AM a successful blogger”

See how I use the “AM” in that new affirmation? I am  always affirming as if this is happening now.  This will really boost the subconscious to believe what you are affirming to be true. This brings your new way of thinking to you very quickly!

Gabrielle also goes onto guiding you through a climbing process which represents you climbing above your ego and getting above your negative thoughts.  Stand at the bottom of a ladder, a rock climbing wall or even your stair master.  Go over in your head your limiting belief or negative self talk and decide to move on from that belief.  Get climbing!  When you climb you reach past your ego, the nasty words that you are thinking, feeling and saying to yourself.

Do this for 30 days and see if your thoughts, self talk and beliefs change :)

She has an amazing guided meditation on itunes where she walks you through releasing.  I have tried a few and loved them all ;)

A little more light hearted:

We went to the beach yesterday and Hudson loves Digging for his ball in the sand……he apparently also loves eating it!

Love you Hudsy!

DSC05695

How do you deal with Worry?  Do you have a routine that you do to stop negative thoughts?  Do you believe you hold yourself back with your thoughts and beliefs?  I know I did until I became aware of what I was really thinking about!

Goodies in the Mail and Calming Your Environment Down

Posted on 20. Jul, 2010 by kris.

16

Happy Tuesday!!!

How are you today?  Fabulous I hope?

I finally realized  yesterday that the summertime nights are slowing down.  Normally when we sit on the patio eating dinner at 6:50 ish the sun is still fully on my face, but not this week :(  It was way far away from me already!  Ugh….I cry when fall hits usually.

We hit the road and get out of dodge at the end of September into the beginning of October to sunny warm places so I can have sun for a bit longer.   Then when I get back I cry ;)

I received some super exciting things in the mail the other day!  If you know me, I am a sucker for free things, mail, stationary and when I get a new beauty product I must use it right away! So this package in the mail was almost all of the above, except the stationary….but that’s ok……

On the way downstairs to the gym I decided to check the mail and much to my surprise there was a large package sitting there for me!!  I totally had forgotten I had signed up for free samples of P&G products online through Brand Sampler and they came.

**Note, I believe this round of Free Samples from are closed, but you can sign up to get notified when more are available!  Register Here.

What did we get??

DSC05644

Some pit stick for Ryan, We each got razors, a Magic Eraser (LOVE) and some Shampoo & Conditioner.

The only items will not use will be the shampoo and conditioner as I tend to keep my shampoos a little more natural.  I find for me, my hair reacts better with less chemicals….this is probably because of the high over processing I did to it growing  up…..like say a perm on my 16th birthday. But we are totally not getting into that today ;)

Yesterday when out and about I found some amazing candles on sale at the Super Store.  I decided that I really needed to bring some candles into my office space here at home for the days that I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed I can just light up my jasmine-mint and feel better!

DSC05675

Candles in the home bring such a calming to your environment.  I have a rose quartz that is made into a candle holder that we will burn immediately after someone “toxic” or someone with bad vibes leaves our home.  We need to bring the positive energy back into this place A-sap or I get all annoyed ;)  Rose Quartz is really great for emotions, loving yourself and dealing with grief.

DSC05674

I can remember the last place we lived in we could feel some serious funky energy rolling through there so we had to google what needed to be done to rectify the situation.  We ended up stocking up on sage and different “grass things” to light and follow through with a “smudging” process.  I got home one day from being out and Ryan had “grassed” the place and the whole house smelled like stale weed! It was gross.

So we now stick with the candles as they give off a better smell ;)

Daily Inspiration:

If someone is getting on your nerves or you don’t like how you feel around them, don’t fight, just realize that this is who they and how your energy feels around them and remove yourself from the situation.  This is one I use often ;)

Do you have candles in your office??  Or places in the house where stress could be held?  Have you ever burnt sage to get rid of bad energy?  How about after certain people leave your house, do you notice the change in energy?

My Eclipse Review and How I Relate To Khloe Kardashian

Posted on 15. Jul, 2010 by kris.

Hey Everyone!

I hope your day is going well?  Mine has been a busy one so far, but I love it and can’t complain!

WOW!  It is so wonderful how you ALL have seen, heard or tried the Strap Perfect!  I am in love with them.  What I am thinking of doing here gals is have a GiveAway and one lucky winner will get a box of Strap Perfect! You get a total of 6 in a box.  More than enough for you or to share!  Details will be tomorrow :)

Yesterday was another busy.  My sister and I are launching a new Online Lifestyle Magazine. It should be done later tonight and I will debut it here on the blog :)  So since this has been in the works my days are jam packed with iheart, business, new site, and of course some Twilight Saga.

As I mentioned yesterday, I FINALLY SAW ECLIPSE.

Here are my Fave 2 things for today!

My Eclipse Review:

Eclipse Picture

My heart melted the whole way through.  I finally for the first time had a smidgen of sadness towards JBlack for putting his love out there and not fully getting it back.  In the mean time however my heart was MELTING for poor Ed who was sitting on the side lines waiting for her to make her decision.

The saddest part?  That he would let her go with JBlack if that is truly what she wanted.  SIGH, why is he so sweet?  How can this magnetic love they have for each other be so strong.  Bella is his Purpose for being.  As I type this, there is a little tightness in my chest :)

My favourite part besides Ed’s smouldering eyes as he watches and protects his love, was the scene in the bedroom when the him and Bella were home alone ;)  I loved watching her be so real with him on her feelings and how “traditional”  he is being in his 1930’s ways.  Loved it!

I have yet to purchase Breaking Dawn as I know once I read the book it is all over.  My “get away” from real life is over once that book is done.  I may have to enter a Twilight therapy session after, I dunno.

Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami!

Khloe Kardashian Miami

I watched the latest epi on Tuesday on good ol’ SurfTheChannel.com

For those of you who follow and watch the Kardashian sisters know that Khloe takes a lot “for the team”.  It was mentioned in the show that Khloe is always the rock for the family.  They can ask something of her and of course she will do it.

This is how I feel in my family.  I am not saying it is a bad thing, I love helping others and feeling needed ;)  I can see with me getting busier as Khloe is now busier (and married!) that you need to find a way to juggle it all.

The reason this topic came up on the KK show was because Monica (remember her?? “The boy is mine…”) was on and she realized this was happening in her life and she wasn’t sure how to deal with it as she was blaming everyone else.  She finally realized “I am not a victim!”.

Both Monica and Khloe would blame others for they way they were treated.

Victim mentality is something a lot of people are in and don’t even realize it.  After she said that I quickly took a couple notes for today’s post.

People feel the need to blame others as they don’t want to admit, or really just don’t understand that THEY have the ability to change the areas of their life on their own.

If you are struggling with things in your life, look at your thoughts.  Who do you blame?  If you are late for a meeting, do you blame traffic?  Do you blame your partner for talking too much, or driving too slow?  Do you blame others for where you are currently in your life?

Bottom line is you are not a victim and you have the ability to change your path, your thoughts, or your “current way of being” on your own.

People can also be victims to themselves and their story.  The beautiful thing is – You have the power to change your story at anytime.  This is your novel and rewrite where you feel needed.

**Tip - Until Monday, try not blaming others or yourself for areas in your life.  Just make the decision that you can rewrite your story at anytime.  Be strong and be true to yourself!  Say NO if you  have to or YES in some cases :)

Ok my friends, Tomorrow I will post the details of the Strap Perfect GiveAway! I am so excited to give a box of these suckers away.  They are so wonderful for “oomph” let me tell you ;)

Filling Your Needs Of All Kinds…..With Chocolate Cake?

Happy Friday Everyone!

WOO HOOO!  Fridays are the best day of the week I think.  Especially sunny Fridays where you get to spend your day sitting in Yaletown with your sister ;)  We are scheming, always scheming…..

How is your day going??  Is it sunny where you are??

TodaysTopic

Filling your need tank!

Do you even know what your needs are?  Do you ever listen to them?

I know for myself I have many needs and sometimes I fulfil them, other times other people have to fulfil them, or sometimes I push them aside.  I realized today that I am tired of pushing my needs aside and really will start taking massive control and hold my needs tightly to me.

Of course, I hear them come up, but I might be too busy, or too confused to know what they are really telling me.  I may even feel Selfish for having some needs.

There are needs that I need from Ryan and from loved  ones that I am going to be more open with so I can make sure my needs get met as best as they can from them as well.  Now, I am not saying that I NEED a new LV bag and everyone must get me one so I feel whole (even though that would be perfecto!) but what I am referring to mostly is if I don’t really want to do something they might be asking of me, I don’t NEED to say “Yes”.  I am allowed to say No.

If I feel I need my space from someone close to me for a few minutes or a day, I can do this because it is my need.

Up until recently I have been always pushing my needs a side for others. Since learning that my needs have a voice and a place in this word I am shouting them out all over the place!

Ryan is really excited about this, I am sure of it ;)  All joking aside it is super important to tell your partner your needs so  you don’t pull the “freak out” on them when they aren’t fulfilling them.  Come on……we have all been there, haven’t we?

“Why is  he taking me to this Starbucks, I hate this one, I want to go to the other one” rolling furiously through my head.

We pull up – I snap!  “Why did you take me to this one?”

But how we forget that people CAN NOT read our minds and our “inside” voice stays inside.  Yes, we tell ourselves that we really like the other starbucks better…..but no one but us can hear it :|

So mission possible today ladies is to SPEAK UP! Fill the air with your needs because they are yours and you are entitled to them.  Also, please remember to find out others needs as well.  We can’t be selfish, now can we?

To be a good communicator, partner and friend, it is important to share your needs with others and really listen and fulfil their needs when you can.

If you both want a LV, well then – your laughing.

How do you find what your needs are?

Ask yourself.  Sit quietly and ask yourself “what are my needs?  Are they being fulfilled?”

You will also want to do this on a daily basis as your day goes on.  You will get a twinge inside that will tell you that you need alone time.  Question it, and decide what it is you need to do with it.  Can you make alone time right now?  If so, great!  Get on that Need Train!

When it comes to needs that only YOU can fill, listen to them.  If it is a simple need as going to your favourite books store alone with a tea and reading different books till the cows come home, do it.  Be alone and don’t feel bad if you think you “should” be spending time with someone else because that guilt is creeping in.

If your need is to go to the gym 5 times a week, but you feel bad leaving the kids, think about fulfilling it.  You mama, have some strong needs that your gut is telling you.

Some people might just need more hugs!  Tell people that hugs make you feel loved and warm and you will get them!  12 hugs a day is the minimum ;)

Yesterday, my need was not as mental as it was a simple craving.  Flat out, I NEEDED

Chocolate Cake.

Oh lordy, I was craving chocolate cake….

I caved and made a decent chocolate cake from scratch with healthy chocolate icing.

This picture doesn’t even do it justice, I swear!

Simple, Yet Satisfying Chocolate Cake:

1 cup buckwheat flour (or flour of choice)
1 cup oat flour (or you can use the same flour for each cup)
1/4 cup coconut oil (melted)
1 cup maple syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 mashed banana
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 cup milk (I used rice)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350

Mash the banana and mix well with oil, vanilla, milk and maple syrup.

In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients together.

Mix both wet and dry together.  Don’t over mix.

Grease a 9″ round cake pan with some coconut oil.

Bake for 20 – 25 minutes depending on oven.

Icing:

I ice a piece of cake as I eat it, so this icing is for 2 pieces.

2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp maple syrup (or agave)

Mix by hand or with a hand blender to get it fluffier!

YUM!

Do you listen and voice your needs?  Do you embrace them and stay true to them?  Do you fall into cravings often?  Is chocolate cake a favourite of yours??

I Am In Constant Swoon and Could Be Crazy

Happy Canada Day to all my crazy Canadians out there!!

How are you all spending this beautiful day?

Well I can’t believe that I am as addicted to this tween vampire story as I am.  It is bad. Very, very bad.

On a daily  basis, I roll out of bed so freaking excited to get my little bowl of fruit and a hot mug of lemon water to curl up on the couch for the next hour and read my blood hungry romance novel.  Who knew I could fall in love with such a character?!

I take Edward with me to the gym as I have mentioned and 45 minutes could go by of me walking hardcore and I have no idea in till I realize I am actually sweating like a pig.

Last night we went to the movie store and I picked up Remember Me with “Edward” (Robert Pattinson) in it just so I could fill my Edward tank up before I can watch the Twilight movie!  I am officially CRAZY here people.  The book is almost done, and then I can finally watch the stinking movie.

RememberMe_poster

Before I continue on with my rant today, I want to share with you what I picked up for the movie time last night!

DSC05618

No Oil and No Salt! It was great for very quick popcorn,  but it lacked the oil.  I usually make my own popcorn on the stove with olive oil.  But I smothered this in nutritional yeast and sea salt, so it was all good!

Yesterday Ryan and I went to the gym together to rock our P90X socks off (Shoulders, Bi, Tri) and the whole time I am chatting about the book and how love seems so whimsical  in the book.

On the way back from the gym I looked at Ryan and I said “Why do you think in a relationship the first few months are always the best?”  You know that time when you are trying to align your butterflies in your tummy every time you can hear his car pull up to take you out?  That fist time he touches his hand on yours? Why does that slow down over time?

“Why do you think people don’t allow themselves to stay in that state of excitement all the time like they did in the beginning?”

“I don’t know Kris……I am in constant bliss with you everyday” he smiled smugly.

YEA Right ;)

“Seriously, lets hash this one out…..lets think about it”

“The last time I hashed anything out was with my econ and beggs, no I mean my becon and acks, no……..I don’t know.  I guess people get comfortable.” he was totally flustered with my demanding questions it took him a while to understand why I was bringing this up.

BUT WHY?

Ryan was fuzzled with my conversation, which he shouldn’t be since I am always the one who asks the most random out of this world questions and look at him for all my answers. Sometimes he has them, other times, not so much ;)

I seriously want to look deeper into the mind and why we go through these stages and why we slow down with that part of excitement that was at one time so strong and then it dwindles for some people.  You know you love them no less, but you are just “comfortable” and you don’t care if you wake up and half your hair is stuck to your face or if you put more in your mouth than you can chew while eating dinner.

But then again, some couples keep their excitement and “beginning stages” going on longer.  If you are out there, PLEASE share the secret.

This isn’t ONLY in relationships, it is in all areas of peoples lives.  We get all jacked up and then slowly drift down.  I believe to keep excitement alive in ones life is to always follow your heart.

If you feel inside you need to tell someone, anyone that you love them – Do it.

Smile at strangers as you walk down the street.

Look hot everyday!  You will feel so much better when you took the time on yourself.

If you know something isn’t right (career, lifestyle, etc) listen to what your heart says and change it.  You are allowed to change your path and your mind as you go along.

As for relationships with a spouse or partner, I believe it is very important to listen to each others needs. We are not mind readers and in the beginning  that is all we did was filled each others needs.  He knew I loved flowers, and would bring me flowers.  Remind him again ;)

I tell you this book takes me out of my flipping little world the everytime I open it up.  It is to the point I am scared to start reading it because I may never come back ;)

Now, go put some lip gloss on ladies and feel great today!

How do you feel about the beginning stages of relationships?  Do you have a theory to my craziness?  How can people around the world keep the excitment in all areas of their life alive?  Do you swoon for Edward too??
