Heyyyyyyy!!!

Happy Thursday!  How is your day going?

I seem to be better now.  Honestly I was having a struggle getting my rear in gear this morning with work and online stuff.  I found myself “keeping busy” in other areas around the house avoiding my office!

So I scrubbed the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed the casa ;)  I am finally now, sitting enjoying a protein salad and getting my blog on!

Protein Salad Giant for Lunch:

DSC05710

Raw Organic Kale (more protein than cooked chicken boobs!), 1 carrot, 1 celery, handful of sprouts, and 1/4 avocado.

Dressing:

1 tbsp evoo
1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp hot dijon mustard

Mix well and drizzle!

This salad is making me feel better as I relax and eat it ;)

Sharing The Love!

As you all know I am a HUGE lover of Gabrielle Bernstein ;)  I have been reading and studying her newest book “Add More ~ing To Your Life love, love, LOVE it!

add more ing to your life

I read a lot of personal development, motivational and self help books and I have really resonated well with this one.

Tuesday was a rough day and there was some tension rolling around in my life.  Wednesday morning when I woke up I got my tea, my book and sat outside on the patio.  The chapter I was starting was on Negative thinking and a bit to do with Forgiveness.  I reread this chapter 3 times soaking in everything it was saying.  I really needed that on the other morning.

One quote that really shot out to me was “Worry is a prayer for chaos.  When your mind is stuck in a pattern of chaos, this is all you’ll experience.”  Do you believe that worrying brings on more negative things in your life?

I always knew if you were thinking dis-empowering thoughts, anger, fears, you would get it all back.  Worry is such a strong emotion that I think we all have.

If we are in a constant state of worry (not eating right, work, finances, relationships) we will just get this recycled back to us.

How do you Stop This Negative Thinking or Worry Thinking?

These negative thoughts and worries are all Ego driven.  Remember that ;)

It is said in the book to wear an elastic band on your wrist.  Be aware on when you have a negative thought, limiting belief, or “worry” and snap the elastic band.  This is not meant as a way to abuse yourself, but it is away for you to stay constantly aware of what you are thinking about.

When you have a negative thought or limiting belief or crazy worry.  Think about it, snap your elastic and be with the feeling for 90 seconds.

Carry a little journal with you wherever you go (I do this all the time!) and write out how your ego is stopping you.  Gabrielle suggests writing out “I block myself when I listen to my ego say ______________”

“I block myself when I listen to my ego say I am not good enough to be a successful blogger

What I will do after I write out my bad ego lingo is I write out an affirming sentence right next to it.  ”I provide amazing value to my readers and AM a successful blogger”

See how I use the “AM” in that new affirmation? I am  always affirming as if this is happening now.  This will really boost the subconscious to believe what you are affirming to be true. This brings your new way of thinking to you very quickly!

Gabrielle also goes onto guiding you through a climbing process which represents you climbing above your ego and getting above your negative thoughts.  Stand at the bottom of a ladder, a rock climbing wall or even your stair master.  Go over in your head your limiting belief or negative self talk and decide to move on from that belief.  Get climbing!  When you climb you reach past your ego, the nasty words that you are thinking, feeling and saying to yourself.

Do this for 30 days and see if your thoughts, self talk and beliefs change :)

She has an amazing guided meditation on itunes where she walks you through releasing.  I have tried a few and loved them all ;)

A little more light hearted:

We went to the beach yesterday and Hudson loves Digging for his ball in the sand……he apparently also loves eating it!

Love you Hudsy!

How do you deal with Worry?  Do you have a routine that you do to stop negative thoughts?  Do you believe you hold yourself back with your thoughts and beliefs?  I know I did until I became aware of what I was really thinking about!

Filling Your Needs Of All Kinds…..With Chocolate Cake?

Posted on 03. Jul, 2010 by kris.

Happy Friday Everyone!

WOO HOOO!  Fridays are the best day of the week I think.  Especially sunny Fridays where you get to spend your day sitting in Yaletown with your sister ;)  We are scheming, always scheming…..

How is your day going??  Is it sunny where you are??

TodaysTopic

Filling your need tank!

Do you even know what your needs are?  Do you ever listen to them?

I know for myself I have many needs and sometimes I fulfil them, other times other people have to fulfil them, or sometimes I push them aside.  I realized today that I am tired of pushing my needs aside and really will start taking massive control and hold my needs tightly to me.

Of course, I hear them come up, but I might be too busy, or too confused to know what they are really telling me.  I may even feel Selfish for having some needs.

There are needs that I need from Ryan and from loved  ones that I am going to be more open with so I can make sure my needs get met as best as they can from them as well.  Now, I am not saying that I NEED a new LV bag and everyone must get me one so I feel whole (even though that would be perfecto!) but what I am referring to mostly is if I don’t really want to do something they might be asking of me, I don’t NEED to say “Yes”.  I am allowed to say No.

If I feel I need my space from someone close to me for a few minutes or a day, I can do this because it is my need.

Up until recently I have been always pushing my needs a side for others. Since learning that my needs have a voice and a place in this word I am shouting them out all over the place!

Ryan is really excited about this, I am sure of it ;)  All joking aside it is super important to tell your partner your needs so  you don’t pull the “freak out” on them when they aren’t fulfilling them.  Come on……we have all been there, haven’t we?

“Why is  he taking me to this Starbucks, I hate this one, I want to go to the other one” rolling furiously through my head.

We pull up – I snap!  “Why did you take me to this one?”

But how we forget that people CAN NOT read our minds and our “inside” voice stays inside.  Yes, we tell ourselves that we really like the other starbucks better…..but no one but us can hear it :|

So mission possible today ladies is to SPEAK UP! Fill the air with your needs because they are yours and you are entitled to them.  Also, please remember to find out others needs as well.  We can’t be selfish, now can we?

To be a good communicator, partner and friend, it is important to share your needs with others and really listen and fulfil their needs when you can.

If you both want a LV, well then – your laughing.

How do you find what your needs are?

Ask yourself.  Sit quietly and ask yourself “what are my needs?  Are they being fulfilled?”

You will also want to do this on a daily basis as your day goes on.  You will get a twinge inside that will tell you that you need alone time.  Question it, and decide what it is you need to do with it.  Can you make alone time right now?  If so, great!  Get on that Need Train!

When it comes to needs that only YOU can fill, listen to them.  If it is a simple need as going to your favourite books store alone with a tea and reading different books till the cows come home, do it.  Be alone and don’t feel bad if you think you “should” be spending time with someone else because that guilt is creeping in.

If your need is to go to the gym 5 times a week, but you feel bad leaving the kids, think about fulfilling it.  You mama, have some strong needs that your gut is telling you.

Some people might just need more hugs!  Tell people that hugs make you feel loved and warm and you will get them!  12 hugs a day is the minimum ;)

Yesterday, my need was not as mental as it was a simple craving.  Flat out, I NEEDED

Chocolate Cake.

Oh lordy, I was craving chocolate cake….

I caved and made a decent chocolate cake from scratch with healthy chocolate icing.

DSC05624

This picture doesn’t even do it justice, I swear!

Simple, Yet Satisfying Chocolate Cake:

1 cup buckwheat flour (or flour of choice)
1 cup oat flour (or you can use the same flour for each cup)
1/4 cup coconut oil (melted)
1 cup maple syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 mashed banana
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 cup milk (I used rice)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350

Mash the banana and mix well with oil, vanilla, milk and maple syrup.

In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients together.

Mix both wet and dry together.  Don’t over mix.

Grease a 9″ round cake pan with some coconut oil.

Bake for 20 – 25 minutes depending on oven.

DSC05620

Icing:

I ice a piece of cake as I eat it, so this icing is for 2 pieces.

2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp maple syrup (or agave)

Mix by hand or with a hand blender to get it fluffier!

YUM!

Do you listen and voice your needs?  Do you embrace them and stay true to them?  Do you fall into cravings often?  Is chocolate cake a favourite of yours??

To Your Glam Life,

xxoo
