Vegan Dreamy Decadent Cookies and Healthy Pit Stick!

Posted on 04. Jul, 2010 by kris in Beauty, Desserts, Gluten Free

Happy Sunday Everyone!

How are you all doing on this fine day?  My morning is going along quite smoothly and I am super excited to see some real su summer weather starting here next week.  I was beginning to think that mother nature put Vancouver on the naughty list for no summer this year ;)

Summer is hands down my favourite season!  I can roll with my windows down, sit outside and enjoy all of natures beauty and I really heart having the windows open in the house.  Everything smells so much fresher!

Before we get into anything else, I just want to quickly bring up that I finished Twilight a few days ago and I watched the movie last night!  Dreamy.  I heart Edward.  That is all I have to say ;)

Moving along…..

Saturday was a pretty chill day.  I ended up going over to the parents house to catch up and of course I can never go empty handed, so I whipped up some cookies!

I was really craving something chocolaty and fudgy and I was on limited time, so I ended up making the recipe that was still on my counter from a couple days ago.  The Simple Chocolate Cake!

Instead of making this fudge goodness into a 9″ round, I ended up making the batter and getting 15 small rounds out of them in a form of a cookie ;)

I loaded the chocolate chips in more than I did in the cake to make them even more magical!

I also omitted the oat flour and strictly went buckwheat. That’s just how I roll ;)

You can find the recipe here.

They were a FAB hit around the casa!  Nothing beats a fluffy, decadent cookie on the weekend :)

After savouring our cookies, mom and I hit the mall.

The only exciting thing I ended up getting was this new natural deodorant from the Body Shop!  This is a new line they are carrying and we figured we would give it a whirl.

It contains a blend of volcanic minerals and refreshing essential oils with a zesty, citrus scent. Contains no aluminium salts or parabens! The volcanic minerals are to absorb moisture and keep you dry ;)

I have been a die hard Lady Speed Stick kind of gal since the first time I wore pit stick.  Honestly, I only wore pit stick when I was in grade 6 because all of my friends did and I thought it was the cool thing to do!

Luckily, lady speed stick evolved as I did and came out with some yummy smelling flavours that seemed to suit my mood for each day.

I really went out on a limb today straying away from my norm.

So once I got home, had some dinner, I had to slather this stuff on to really put it to the test.

A nice sweaty P90X kempo sesh really showed me how this deodorant could hold up.

Verdict?

Pretty darn good!  Two thumbs up for this “healthy” deodorant.  Normally all the natural pit sticks you get don’t work too well, but this one is marv!

Time to get some more work done!  For all of you wonderful subscribers, your gift will be ready for you tomorrow!

Do you use natural deodorant?  Or does that matter to you?  What is your Favourite season and Why?

To Your Glam Life,

xxoo

My parents have been big on natural deodorant since I was little. Me not so much. I’ve wanted to, but its so hard to find something thats decent. I’ll have to give this stuff a try.

  2. Hey girl – summer is my fave season. I need to live farther south where it’s warm like this year round. I don’t use a natural – I am a big time sweater and they just don’t work for me. Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend.

You know…I don’t even wear deodorant on a regular basis. I wear it if I’m going to be working out with other people, spending a long busy day outside, for a party, ect. On a day to day basis…nope. Don’t tell anyone though. :-)

  5. I’m totally interested to find out how you like this deoderant. I use Clinique because it’s fragrance free but haven’t tried natural deoderant before.

  6. I am intrigued by natural deodorants. I’ve always been a Secret girl but I’ve always secretly wondered if those chemicals absorb into my body. Eeeks!

I know..the non natural always has better scents, etc. But it is scary on what goes into your body!

I pretty much stick to Dove deo. They’ve got some great new scents out!

PS….Sadly I didn’t make that ginger cookie. I buy them from a vendor at the market….

I’m definitely big on natural deodorant although right now, I’m forced to use the not so natural stuff as none of the choices I have are very good.

My favorite season would have to be summer. I love the heat and everything is just so beautiful and vibrant!

Hi Kris, yummy recipe! It’s so funny that you were talking about the new Body Shop deodorant because I just saw it yesterday (my Mom dragged me to the 4th of July sale at the mall – exhausting!). I’m glad to know it works since I don’t use the aluminum-based ones. Sounds like they have some good ingredients. I will definitely check it out! Thanks for sharing :)

Ha! Pit Stick. All these years and never heard it called that. My deodorant is Secret. I’m probably going to die eventually from all the chemicals but I love it.

I use Degree deodorant. Natural? No. I would like to try an all natural one but I wonder if it is really worth the extra money. I already spend a ton on other “health” products, foods, etc…I gotta find a break somewhere! ;)
