Rice Milk Chai Tea Latte

Hey everyone!

What a lovely sunny Saturday morning in VanCity! Our weather has been crazy lately. Yesterday was some serious bad hair weather. It was like living in Hawaii… 23 degrees, light rain (frizzy rain) and just muggy. My hair grew 10 sizes in 5 minutes outdoors. I really hope that painted a good picture in your mind cause it was BAD! Thank goodness for hats….
I’m not sure if anyone else is a huge True Blood fan like me, but if you’ve never seen Alexander Skarsgard – your missing out on some serious eye candy. To me (and a lot of other women in the world) he’s the hunkiest man ever! Last night, my bff and I took it to Whole Foods for snacks and headed to Scotiabank Theatre to watch Straw Dogs which A-Skars stars in. I’m not one for scary movies at all but when he’s shirtless and wearing flannel the entire movie – I couldn’t say “no”. It was an interesting movie.. I think I may prefer him as the devious yet loveable vampire but really, he can do no wrong…. *swoon*.

Starbucks has brought back their pumpkin spice latte and all things Fall, and since I don’t drink milk or soy milk, its a little hard to go their in the morning to get a chai tea latte to celebrate the colder weather. I do wish I lived next to a Whole Foods so I could run into Allegro everyday and get them to make one with Rice Milk. Life would be sweet and I would probably be twice the size with all their gluten free baked goods! I decided enough was enough I was going to master making my own chai tea latte at home. I browsed the aisles at Whole Foods debating whether I should go the chai tea bag route or the water based tea route. After walking around with both in either hand re-reading the ingredients I decided to give The Chai Company a try (it’s on sale at WF for $9.99!). All it takes is some “steamed” milk and add the chai tea. Since I don’t have a mini espresso machine (I really need to make the investment), steaming milk was a little difficult so I just warmed vanilla rice milk in the microwave. It worked like a charm! The aroma from the latte was heavenly. It takes you to a whole new world where your sitting in a cozy cottage in the English Countryside bundled up in flannel pj’s and Ugg boots watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s and sipping this….

Whats your favourite fall drink?

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

xoxo,
Michelle

Hey Michelle, my favourite fall drink is a simple one – cinnamon tea (and if you could add Alexander Skarsgard on the side, it will be perfect ;)

Just finding this post a year later. I use Tazo Chai tea mix which is only $3.49 vs the one you bought for $9.99. I normally use the soy but am getting off soy thus googled rice chai and found your site. I have a hand frother that I use and i never can get the Rice to foam up. Are you using Ricedreams milk? You sure got a nice foam for chai and now I am not so sad to have to get off the soy again.
