Happy Weekend, Doll!
How are ya?
It’s later than normal for my posting, but I slept in….I’m sipping late joe and trying to talk myself into getting ready so I can hit up the Organic Wholesale Veggie Store which is only open until early afternoon here…..I should do it, right?
Yesterday I did a nice lunch with my mom….we had veggie burns sans buns. Good calorie counting ladies!
As my 90 Day Bikini Body Challenge comes to an end at the end of this week I’ve realized a lot of things about building lean lady muscles like a fitness model. I learned that when they ask you to “Bulk” in the beginning with more calories of proper protein, carbs and fats, its true. If you “just get by” at the lower end of the bulking phase like I did your base isn’t there.
I’ve also learned that this might take me another year following a plan of eating a bit higher calories {200-300 more a day} and lowering my cardio to work up to a body like Lori Harder, who is amazingly defined!
My savior in all of this Muscle Poppin’ plan was my shakes!! They were helping me keep pesky fat off during my building phase, but really helped me tone up the muscles. On average I’d have 3 a day, or at least a serving in a bowl of greek yogurt or something for some extra protein…..I’m loving all the food!!
There is a 50-50 response to lifting heavy and getting the defined results you want. Some people say lift lighter, more reps for a toned bicep. Others say Heavy all the way! I’ve done both and can say that heavy for me gives me more definition as I also finds it burns the fat more in targeted ares {Ahkmmmmm my thighs!} So my next 90 Day Challenge is going to be heavy weight lifting again as I crave it now
Protein Protein Protein!!
You know I’ve chatted about what I eat here & here, but its so important that protein is in all your meals while going after this lean muscular build. If you’re a vegan stick to things like quinoa or a bit of black beans combined with brown rice to get that complete protein. Nothing is worse than wasting calories on things like beans alone when they’re not even a complete protein! Try quinoa instead, its complete on its own
There is such huge mental side to anything you set a goal to achieve! Remember to Visualize you doing the work at the gym, making the healthy meals, standing in your bikini at the beach when you’re finished your challenge so your subconscious is already used to it and will work harder for you to actually achieve it.
Ok, so yesterday this happened…
Was I depressed? I needed a good kick in my arse for motivation {always be motivated} and I needed something to drown my sorrows with dark chocolate. Ooooo baby it was goooooood!!!
Now with all this muscle talk, I’m in the gym!
Comment Below! How do you build lean lady muscles??

it can be frustrating sometimes when it comes to fitness goals, as many experts saying different things, but I guess like most things have to find what works for you.
glad to see you have found something! looking great girl

You look fabulous Kris! I’m glad you’ve made such positive progress and are loving the heavy lifting! I definitely agree on sticking to the higher protein and low sugar, I prefer eat that way anyways, so its pretty easy for me to eat this way consistently. Especially when you can make high protein, low sugar healthy treats!

You look great! I’m still learning how to build “lean lady muscles.” I still have a hard time letting go of the cardio and adding the calories. And, btw, that salad looks YUM!

Hey Kris!
I’ve been reading your blog for a litle while now and thought I’d finally comment! You look amazing first of all! You can see all the hard work and dedication you’ve put into your workouts. And–don’t compare yourself to models–especially on the covers of Shape, Fitness, and Self. I do it all the time too! And then I also get really depressed. I feel like I’ll never look that way no matter how clean I eat or how I work in my workouts. But you have to remember you are beautiful and have a gorgeous body! It’s uniquely yours. And also–those models are freakin air-brushed! Have a great rest of your weekend girl!
