Indian Birthday Bash

Posted on 09. Feb, 2010 by kris in Personal Development

Hi Everyone,

Well the birthday has come and gone. I want to thank you all for the birthday wishes! They all put a big smile on my face yesterday when reading them :)  Its pretty crazy when you wake up on your special day and your inbox is full of birthday wishes from blogger friends, facebook friends and twitter friends!  I love the Internet!

Last night was a blast!  We celebrated Indian style and went to a favourite restaurant of mine Little India.  The restaurant is about a 45 minute drive from home, but it is worth it.  The restuaruant sits right on the ocean so you don’t only get great food, you get great scenery!

Ryan and I got two vegan dishes to share – Chana Masala and Aloo Gobi.  Chana Masala is my favourite, I just love the spices and the chickpeas together.  But we did venture away from our traditional dishes with the aloo gobi and was pleasantly surprised.  There was large pieces of veg and potatoes with some wonderful flavours!  Of course the rice was perfect and the white wine even better!

I seemed to have a hard time with the big 2-9 yesterday.  I guess it got me really thinking about life and where I want to take mine.  I know I am on my path and need to stay focused on it everyday.  We discussed this over dinner and decided a nice walk was in order, so we decided to walk down the pier in White Rock.

This picture is not the best, but it is of my Mom, Michelle and I:

After my walk last night and my reflections with my family, I realized 29 isn’t that bad after all. Keeping myself healthy and feeling good is the most important thing to me, so this morning I made sure I reminded myself of that this morning when I didn’t want to go to the gym!  I did it and felt great!

I ate all my chocolate covered nature goodness yesterday as I was reading blogs!  Happy Birthday to me!

Today we are heading to the beach, Ryan needs to shoot a video for his blog and well Hudson and I will run around :)

Enjoy your day!

What is your favourite Indian Dish?  Do you like Indian food?

I’m glad you enjoyed your birthday! Girl, 29 is still so young. Embrace it :)

I just had my first indian-inspired food today! (How ironic) It was flat bread

Is this the Little India thats on the strip in White Rock? Im going to assume it is since you walked the pier after lol.
Ive been wanting to try that place. Actually, my boyfriend and I have set a goal for the summer to try all the restaurants. Hopefully he’ll let me skip the ones I already know I dont like.

Glad you had a good birthday!

I know the feeling of getting closer to 30 but hey honey, it gets better every year. I am turning 33 this year and I feel better about it than I did 30. Just think of all those women who you admire who are in their 30’s and 40’s and it keeps you inspired (and don’t compare yourself to your friends! We are all on our own journey).

But it is normal to reflect.

Your birthday dinner looked fabbo :)

Glad to have you as my online pal xx

  10. Kris, Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it was everything you wanted and more. And that you felt really special on your special day; everyone deserves that.

Glad the vegan food in a restaurant was good! Sometimes that isn’t the case, sadly.

anyway honey, Happy Bday!!!!! Lots of love, health, and good times in your upcoming year!

  12. Hubby took me to an Indian Restaurant for our first date. He has a few really close friends from India who introduced him to the food. I grew up on chicken and mashed potatoes, and my taste buds were not happy that first night. I’ve since learned to LOVE IT!! I love somosa and naan (which I know is mild), but I love paneer nuabi (sp??) and the curries too :)

  13. I am so glad you had a wonderful birthday my love!! (Especially because you had some red cup love!) I have never really gotten into Indian food. I think it’s because I am afraid! I just tried Thai this weekend and really liked it so maybe Indian will be next to check off my list!!

Glad you had a good birthday! I love Indian food!! My favorite dishes are Veggie Korma or Masala, and Baigan Bharta. And I usually steal a couple veggie pakora from my husband- they are soooo good, even if they are fried. :)
