I’m currently on Day 24 of Whole30 and it’s a miracle I still am following the plan…
The cravings are no joke. Last week I had multiple dreams about chicken and beef and freaking out at the guy at the meat shop because he couldn’t tell me if his meat was nasties free.
This week I am in FLOW with my diet, even when we travelled recently to Seattle, Ryan and I stayed strong and found great options at Whole Foods! I did totally want a piece of cake to celebrate a weekend away, but I picked up a kombucha instead ; ) Priorities and values, friends!
After my dream and many days of wanting to put a piece of dark chocolate in my mouth out of habit, I turned to the Whole30 Site and they give timeline on kinda what to expect emotionally and mentally as you live through the 30 days. It’s spot on. So, if you don’t want to know what’s coming for you each day or week, just don’t read the timeline! ; )
Day 8-13 seemed to be worst craving days…I didn’t deprive myself, I still had a little larabar or apple chip if I needed something.
Each of these craving days I toyed with giving up and having a marble loaf from Starbucks, but I didn’t and I haven’t had one slip up! NOPE. If I’m in it, I’m in it and my will power is stronger than my cravings most days. But I still would imagine my teeth sinking into a grain or bread.
Now that I’m on Day 24 I’m into a real good rhythm with my meals and what I purchase weekly. I have found that Costco has some GREAT Whole30 compliant foods that I stock up on because Ryan and I eat a LOT of food for the two of us. If I told you our dollar amount I think you’d die. It’s more than most people’s car payments…actually probably 2 car payments, but we both DO NOT want to lose weight on Whole30, so we eat many meals a day.
MY BODY UPDATE ON WHOLE30:
I have more defined muscle mass and have lost a couple pounds of fat, which I can feel in my clothes. This was NOT my intention. I started to work on my hormones and regrow my hair.
You can read why I started Whole30 here.
Back to the food! I make sure I am always eating enough and eating a well balanced diet.
I’ve started making grass fed roasts in the crock pot, which I have NEVER done before I started on Whole30, so I’m feeling quite proud of myself for stepping into some new foods and cooking!
EMOTIONAL WHOLE30 UPDATE:
I found that this plan is quite an emotional roller coaster. Between the cravings, the newness and the cleansing….
My emotions have been quite visible lately and I need to FORGIVE a lot more! Honestly, I feel this is because all old shit is rattling up to the surface the more clear of a channel I become in my body and with Spirit.
So, I don’t take this lightly and I dive into my emotions with both feet and use my tools to truly heal and break free.
FORGIVE Essential Oil blend is my go-to and I have been having great success with it.
Just honour yourself as you go through your process here with Whole30, you need to explore the old emotions and let shit go.
One of the questions I get is “How can I do the Whole30 plan on a budget?”
I get it, this plan can be expensive if you let it be.
Costco has some great options to keep you on track and on budget!
Here’s what I buy from Costco for my Whole30 Diet:
Let me give you a breakdown of each beautiful organic Costco products that light up my life and make Whole30 so much easier (and cheaper!)
Wholly Guacamole (the individual 100 cal cups) = SO GOOD! I use these on my salads, scrambles, and as my nightly snack with celery, carrots and sliced peppers to dip into it.
Martin’s Apple Chips (I just can’t stop buying these) = SERIOUSLY. These are also replacing my beloved popcorn at night when I unwind. Have you tried these?! Dang.
Coconut Oil = MY LIFE LINE. I swear my body sweats coconut oil. I cook with this, add it to my dark roast coffee, remove eye makeup, give it to Hudson my dog… it’s HEAVEN!
Organic Olive Oil brand: Terra Delyssa = Sweet + nutty flavour and it’s amazing on fresh salads loaded with veggies and a dash of balsamic!
Organic Spinach = Simple.
Organic Bell Peppers = Perfectly sliced for a snack or cooked with dinner!
Organic Cooked Beets = Not pictured here, but they are sometimes at Costco and I adore them on my salads!!
Organic Eggs = Eggs and I have a love hate relationship. I used to be allergic to eggs, so I find certain eggs and brands I am sensitive to, but these ones seem good! I don’t eat them daily…
Organic Canned Diced Tomatoes (perfect for chilli!) = Not pictured, but simple, sodium free and organic.
Now, you might be wondering about the protein in Whole30 and if there is a cheaper way to do this piece of the plan. I have purchased their Organic Ground Beef & Chicken, but it’s not my favourite so I go to a meat shop for my organic, grass fed meat and I look for good quality meats. So you might need to shop around for your best meat place or try the organic Costco chicken and beef!
I am grateful for this process on Whole30 and YES my hair is shedding less and this is why I was so stoked to start this plan!! My skin is way less greasy and I feel strong in the gym.
